Biography:

Cliffe E. Laborde III is past president of the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel. Mr. Laborde served as president of the American Inn of Court of Acadiana and is an emeritus member of the Inn. He has been regional development coordinator and a member of the national development committee for the American Inn of Court Foundation and received the American Inn of Court Foundation award for Dedication and Inspiration.

Mr. Laborde received the Sam Dalton Capital Defense Special Advocacy Award from the Louisiana Criminal Defense Lawyers Association in 2001 and the Crystal Gavel Award from the Louisiana State Bar Association in 2002 as a result of the pro bono representation of a death row inmate. He was also a recipient of the Exceptional Performance Citation from the Defense Research Institute in 2000. Mr. Laborde has served as a member of the Louisiana Federal Court Bench/Bar Liaison Committee and was a member of the selection panel for United States Magistrate Judges from 1988 through 1998. He has served on the faculty of continuing legal education programs sponsored by the Louisiana State Bar Association, the Louisiana State University Law Center, the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel, and the Lafayette Parish Bar Association. He is a member of the Louisiana and American Bar Associations, the International Association of Defense Counsel, the Maritime Law Association of the United States and The Defense Research Institute.

Mr. Laborde is a former member of the Board of Regents of Georgetown University and served on its Admissions, Athletic, and Nominating Committees, the John Carroll Scholarship Committee, and the Board of Advisors of the Alumni Admissions Program. He was a member of the Parish Council and was Chairman of the Finance Committee of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lafayette, Louisiana
